Went to see the puppy last night. Very nice little girl, very calm, very playful with the older dogs. I did all the normal checks, and she’s just fine. I could roll her on her back and she just went loose and stayed there. I could pull at her toes and she just stood there. I could call her and she was attentive. Overall she was very lazy and calm, but still playful and attentive.

We pick her up on friday.

Training/Teaching

I had a new tester start work today that I am training. I’ve come to the conclusion that the best way to learn, memorize, absorb, and REMEMBER any material is to be forced to teach it. I can’t tell you how much cardiophysiology I know simply because I’ve had to teach it to new testers. It’s fun , too, better than real work :)

Tonight, we’re going to see a puppy that we *possibly* will get

*possible: in this sense possible refers directly to the amount of “Oooooing” and “Ahhhhing” I get from my wife until I cave in, hence in this case the word ‘possible’ is synonymous with ‘unequivically’.

Well, no luck this year. I saw alot of deer, but without a doe tag the pickins were slim.

Amanda and I spent Tuesday night at my uncle’s house, and then drove up to his cabin with him on wednesday morning. Our dogs got along very well, and had fun playing. They were obnoxious with playing on wednesday (inside, outside, inside, outside, etc.), but slept the whole day thursday. Turkey dinner was great, I’m always impressed with the meals that can be pulled off in a cabin with no electricity or water.

Having the dogs together for a few days really convinced us that we need another dog. I think things are boring for our dog around here, and he definately enjoyed himself and was more happy with another dog around. And wouldn’t you know it our breeder called us today about a puppy :) Christmas may come a little early this year :)

Returned from a good weekend of deer hunting. Saw alot of critters, none with antlers. There was snow, and it was the sticky kind of snow where 4-5 inches piled up on every single tree branch. They were bent over and bogged down, greatly changing the landscape, clouding what had been my shooting lanes, but generally making things very beautiful. On Saturday it warmed up a little, and the snow began to melt from the branches, crashing down on the forest floor. As you could imagine, when you’re sitting in a tree stand in the middle of the forest with a high powered rifle, you get really jumpy when you here these ‘thuds’ of snow hitting the ground all around you. It made opening day quite exciting, and the day went by fast.

I heard a deer bleat for the first time on saturday. Female deer make this goat-sounding whining noise called a bleat, and it is very amusing. The sound doesn’t match the animal at all. It’s sorta hearing nee-hah sing.

Anyway, I’m going back up north, this time to my uncle’s place in moutain, wi. Hopefully I’ll have better luck there.
